Happy Birthday, Jeremy!

The year 1975 was a big one.  Some pretty note-worthy events occurred in the year of the Rabbit.  Bic launched the first ever disposable razor, Saturday Night Live debuted on NBC and JVC introduced VHS tapes.

But another even more momentous event occurred which deserves the highest of regard.  Thirty-five years ago today, my hubby was born to this world.

And, being that he’s the birthday boy, the man of honor, I wanted to share a few little tidbits about the guy I like to call…Mindy’s husband.

Jeremy is an enthusiast of all things outdoors.  The man hunts, fishes (is that a word?), hikes, camps, rides, bikes and basically involves himself with any activity that makes my skin crawl a teensy bit.  He listens to techno/dance music (you know the kind…it sounds like people wearing full-body armor, hitting trash cans together while moaning in despair?)  and covets science fiction movies and novels (read: no quivering loins or sinewy biceps to be found.)  He watches Nascar and Battlestar Galactica, designs web pages and can play a mean game of Barbies.  He’s taken coffee table handstands to almost Olympic levels and has spent many an afternoon walking around the house with two children attached to his ankles like human moon boots.

I can say with the utmost of certainty that I don’t think I could have found a better person with whom to live my life.  He’s the Coke to my Pepsi, the Thousand Island to my Ranch, the honesty to my sarcasm and the calming rain to my tumultuous storm.

He’s Jack’s Superman and Avery’s Prince Charming.  And, he’s my best friend.

The world has been blessed with a generous, loving and compassionate man for thirty-five years and I’ve been blessed with knowing a truly good person.

Happy Birthday to you, Jeremy.

Love you ’til the end of time (or at least until I get that private invitation to play ‘den mom’ to the Thunder from Down Under),

Mindy
