He must have had a terrible life not to be affected by the zaniness of someone like you! I agree. Give him some cookies. He must really need something. And if he doesn’t respond to that, well, at least you tried. This post was just too funny!

I personally wouldn’t do food, though, for several reasons. 1) he could be on a strict diet (diabetic?) 2) he could think that you’re trying to poison him because he’s been such a grumpy gus. 😀 3) food spoilage or bugs in the mailbox.

Maybe a card with a gift certificate to a local grocery store or movie theater or book store? Maybe go to your local post office, and ask about him; see if there is anything in particular that they would suggest for this carrier … they’d know him best. Maybe mention that he seems a bit “blue” and you want to get him something that will cheer him up?

Just tossing out some ideas. I don’t think he hates you. He’s probably just PMS’y because of the holidays. I know I am, and I don’t have to deliver your mail! 😉

I’ve been lucky, I have liked both of my mail ladies over the last 18 yrs.

Some people just don’t want to make the effort to be friendly.

Don’t take it personal, we love ya!

Matter of fact, I hope you were eating one when you opened the door. “Mmmmmm Hmmmmm, yes mailman? Excuse me this is soooooo good!”

I agree, some people just don’t want to be nice. In his defense, I’m sure this time of year is very stressful.

🙂 Bah mail bug!

While it does irritate me that people get so grouchy about having to do their jobs (quit if its that bad) leave him the cookies! You never know what life is like for him and there could be something very heavy at home making him grumpy. OR, you could try answering the door nekkid (that’s a little different from naked) it might perk him right up.

Don’t give him cookies. He doesn’t deserve them. Not like my UPS guy does. He delivers my Stephen King books, is always friendly, looks way hott in shorts, and even shoveled my sidewalk when my hubby was out of town. He deserves more than cookies but my hubby would get mad. =]

Who cares about the mailman. I like you!

You know he’s gonna pitch your cookies, right? Something like, “I bet that’s chocolate-flavored Ex-Lax baked in there.”

Actually that reminds me. Last year, we made cookies for our garbage collectors (in the days before Garbageman Kevin); they smiled, accepted the brown-paper sack of frosted sugar cookies… and tossed them into the hopper with the rest of the trash!

I guess this year I better use wrapping paper and silver ribbon just to make the distinction. Boo.

Sounds like you and I are on the same wavelength, Tinker…
And, yes. Cookies for the folks at the post office should put you in the ‘good egg’ category. =)

Mail only gets checked once or twice a week if we’re lucky. Fortunately, I rarely see our mailman (or mail lady?). I’m sure they’re pretty PO’d at me when they have to sqeeze even more mail in my box when there’s hardly any room anyway due to me not checking it on a regular basis. Oh well. I make cookies for the folks at the Post Office. Does that count?
