Friday Flashbacks and Favorites

HAPPY-FRIDAY-YALL

Happy Friday, friends.  Here’s hoping you survived the week.  Although, if you are reading this then I have to assume you did survive.  And not only did you survive, you chose to celebrate your survival by checking in with the ol’ Suburban Life.  So, I thank you.  And my little blog thanks you. Being that it’s TGIF and all it’s time to recap some of the goodies of the week.  The things that got you through the Mondays and the Tuesdays and the…well, you get the point.  Did you watch any good TV lately?  Read any good books, magazines or blogs?  Try any great recipes or eat any amazing food?  Do tell! Read on for a few of my own Friday flashbacks and favorites.

TV

bitten netflix I have  recently discovered the Netflix series, “Bitten”.  And it’s consuming my life.  Which is kind of appropriate since it’s about werewolves.  Who consume lives.  It’s kind of a Twilight-meets-True Blood-meets-Days of Our Lives.  So far there is only Season One available to watch but I’m hoping a Season Two will make the cut soon!    Warning:  watching “Bitten” while on the elliptical machine at the gym might incite curious stares as it is prone to a raunchy sex scene here and there.  Don’t be the local perv at the gym.

Books/Magazines/Blogs

pinterest-told-me-to-blog I have been cyber-stalking Pinterest Told Me To, a fashion blog created by Scheaffer, a pinterest-aholic, who decided to turn her binge-pinning into recreating outfits inspired by…you guessed it, Pinterest.  Her blog posts are FULL of fashion inspiration and she links like crazy!  Home girl has the inside scoop on so many cute things, a daily visit to her blog is a must.  Bonus: she also recaps Bachelor/Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise episodes.  And it’s amazing.  Bonus-Bonus: her bestie is actually the sister of Bachelor Sean.  ‘Member him?

All the Foods

elkhorn-brewery You all.  The hubs and I tried out a local brew pub for our anniversary celebration and it DID NOT disappoint.  I ordered, wait for it, the Smoked Tri-Tip Cheese Steak.  It had aioli, you guys.  And smoked tri-tip.  And cheese. And a sourdough bun.  AND SOMETHING TO DIP IT IN.  Guys.  It was so worth loosening my bra to the outside hooks, let me tell ya.  Now I’m going to have to learn how to smoke meat and find out what the hell a horseradish aioli is because recreate this dish, I must.  PS – I have a feeling mine won’t be anything like this one.  PPS – I have good reason to have that feeling on account of I’ve never cooked a tri-tip OR made an aioli.

So there’s a few things I was digging this week.  Anything light a fire in your britches?  Share! Happy Friday! Mindy

Yep, I mead Pioneer Woman’s Curried Chickpeas, and they are excellent. Maybe not smoked tri-tip excellent, but nonetheless, pretty darn good.
