I’m a Romance Novel Junkie

July 31, 2009 by Mindy 2 Comments

Okay, confession time here. Who hasn’t picked up a trashy novel on a lazy summer day and transported themselves to a sleepy English village in the mid-nineteenth century transforming into a nubile serving wench lusty with desire for the tall and sinewy ship captain who just sailed into port and hasn’t seen a woman for months on end? Haven’t you? Come on! You simply do not know what you are missing. I have been a romance novel junkie almost since I began to read. I started with Francine Pascal’s Sweet Valley High Series giggling my way through the innocent little romances and graduated to Johanna Lindsey, Jude Deveraux and Fern Michaels blushing my way through the not-so-innocent little romances. I honestly did not know there were so many different ways to say “bulging member”. Romance novels have done nothing if not enhanced my vocabulary. So, I’ve decided to break down for you some of my favorite romances hopefully motivating you to allow your own transportation/transformation to begin!

Johanna Lindsey
The Malory Family Series (These are some of my very favorite romance novels featuring really fun and seemingly attractive leading men…the Malory brothers)
Tender is the Storm (A New York heiress travels west as a mail-order bride with no intention to actually fulfill her marriage contract…yeah, right)
Brave the Wild Wind, Savage Thunder & Angel (Oh, how I love me a good cowboy romance series!)
A Pirate’s Love (A young girl whose heart is stolen by a pirate but already promised to another…God, don’t you hate it when this happens)
A Gentle Feuding (Scottish highlands, kilts, strong men, need I say more?)

Jude Deveraux
Twin of Fire & Twin of Ice (The Chandler twins, two young ladies as different as night and day…or fire and ice, I guess)
The Velvet Series (Montgomery family, sweeping saga of romance and drama)

Fern Michaels
Texas Rich, Texas Heat, Texas Fury, Texas Sunrise (The Texas Series follows four generations of the Coleman family set on a sprawling Sunbridge ranch. In Texas. Loved all of them.)
Vegas Rich, Vegas Heat, Vegas Sunrise ( The Vegas Series introduces a new family to the Coleman saga…the Thorntons. And you guessed it…this time it’s in Vegas!)
Kentucky Rich, Kentucky Heat, Kentucky Sunrise (Colemans, Thorntons, Kentucky. Just read it.)

I think you would be pretty safe reading any of Johanna, Jude and/or Fern’s books. I’ll update another time with new authors and books to wet your whistle. Trust me. Once you’ve gone romance there’s no going back. After all, everyone needs a little “bulging member” in their lives. Ha.

Love to all, Mindy

Love this! I just checked out 4 books from the library – 3 smarties and one good ‘ole bodice ripper. A girl’s got to dream!
